About the role
As part of its strong growth, VirtualiSurg is looking to strengthen its team with Control Engineers, to aid the development of the physical simulation and haptic devices for our world class training medical stations, thus supporting the creation of realistic virtual environments and simulations.
We are looking for a profile with a strong mathematical background to aid our development of physics engines and haptic technologies, being the theoretical reference for the team which will further develop them.
This position will allow you to work in a highly innovative, young and dynamic environment with a strong social impact, where you will work together with multidisciplinary teams to produce highly immersive content.
Missions
- Investigate and formalize the mathematical principles underlying soft body physics algorithms
- Explore the stability, accuracy, and computational efficiency of soft body physics algorithms
- Develop robust computational models and algorithms to simulate soft bodies with haptic feedback
- Support the development team from design to optimization with the theoretical background of the algorithms
- Work collaboratively to integrate simulations into larger system architectures for real-world applications
- Design and implement prototype simulation frameworks to validate theoretical findings and assess performance metrics
- Conduct rigorous testing to evaluate model accuracy and reliability, iteratively refining based on test results
- Create detailed technical documentation outlining mathematical models, simulation methodologies, and optimization strategies
- Be a driving force in identifying new suppliers and/or scientific/technological partnerships.
Essential Qualifications
- School of Engineering, Computer Science or Applied Math. PhD in physics engines or related fields will be a plus
- A good knowledge of written and spoken English is necessary
- At least 5-6 years of professional experience in simulation development and/or physics engine
- Experience with a real-time mesh deformation engine is a plus
- Knowledge of Unity 3D would be a plus
- Experience in Mixed Reality / Augmented Reality development would be a plus
- Knowledge of the medical world would be a plus
